Daily Maverick | Al Jazeera files suit at ICC over journalist’s killing

Shireen Abu Akleh, an American-Palestinian journalist who reported for Al Jazeera, was shot during an Israeli raid in the West Bank in May. After the killing of Abu Akleh, Al Jazeera launched an investigation and after the investigation, the media group filed a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court stating that it needs to identify the individuals who are responsible for Abu Akleh’s killing. IOL | Meta threatens to pull all news content over new journalism bill

The proposed Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA) would allow certain newspapers and local news broadcasters to join together to collectively negotiate with “online content distributors” — specifically, Google, Meta, Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft to increase compensation for journalists’ content.
