The 2021 Gender Journalism Awards Competition

UN Women partnered with feminist movements to host the 2021 Gender Journalism Awards Competition.  The competition supports and motivates young journalists to specialise in gender reporting.

Five categories are open for entries and journalists must enter a story in each category: the women’s rights activism and leadership, protection of civic space for feminist action and movement building, intergenerational partnerships for consensus building and succession, feminist movements and financing for a gender-equal future, and technology and innovation for gender equality. 16th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting

The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has opened its application portal for interested journalists to apply for the sixteenth edition of the annual Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting. Journalists from the print, online, photo, cartoon, television and radio genres with stories published between 4 October 2020 to 3 October 2021 may submit their works on the online portal. This course is designed to teach you how to write news stories in an effective and engaging way using techniques employed by Ewen MacAskill and other journalists around the world. Ewen will teach you when and how to go beyond the inverted pyramid model of storytelling to make your stories stand out and to make you a better storyteller.
