What innovations in digital media are working and how can we help them?
In August JAMLAB is hosting a guest from Ryerson University in Canada, one of our partners in the journalism and media accelerator we are running at Tshimologong. Asmaa Malik is an associate professor at the Ryerson School of Journalism, and before that was a journalist at the Toronto Star and deputy managing editor of the Montreal Gazette.
Malik will be participating in a JAMLAB Meetup on media innovation and startups. She will share some case studies of media startups that have grown out of the Digital Media Zone, a tech hub at Ryerson. She will be joined by South African media innovators for a discussion on where to find the ‘white spaces’ for digital media startups and what support hubs, universities and others should be offering to grow and improve media innovation. If you are interested in or working in independent digital media and how to grow it then please join the discussion.
